Freshmen Help Indiana Dominate Siena In Bruno Classic Opener

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Indiana water polo freshman accounted for 10 goals in a 18-8 win over Siena to open up play at the Bruno Classic on Friday night at Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatic Center.

KEY MOMENTS
- Siena was able to strike first in the opening quarter, but Indiana's freshmen stepped up with Audrina Kang getting IU on the board with 3:06 to play while Kaitlin Elias scored a minute later on a 6-on-5 opportunity.
- The Saints bookended the frame with a goal with 17 seconds to play to take a 2-2 tie into the second.
- IU would score quickly in the second off a penalty shot from junior Olivia Harris. Senior Nicole Tyner added in the same minute to push the lead to 4-2. Elias secured another goali while freshman Kylie Williams added one in the middle to give Indiana 9-2 lead at the break.
- During the third, the two teams found the net on a combined nine occasions as Indiana got goals from Elias, Williams, Tyner and Downes to go maintain a lead, 13-7.
- Four more goals were added to Indiana's stat sheet in the fourth

- Indiana improved to 3-0 on the season.
- Williams and Elias combined to each record their first career hat tricks to lead the Hoosiers on offense along with senior Louisa Downes who also had three goals.
- Additional freshmen to record goals included Kang (2), Macie Drum (1) and Sammy Frazier (1).
- Higgs and Cox split time in the cage on the evening. Higgs finished with nine saves while Cox pulled in three.
- IU won all four sprints with junior Grace Klingler winning a pair along with freshman Nikki Frazier and Downes recording one each.
- N. Frazier finished the game with a team-high three assists. Junior Nancy Baylor-Sefchick had a team-high two steals.
